Esther Kennedy Ready to Take Up Jim Splaine’s Mantle

In light of city councilor Jim Splaine’s announcement Wednesday that he would not be running for re-election in 2017, and taking into account his possible removal for disclosure violations, former city councilor Esther Kennedy has accelerated her campaigning, preparing to turn Splaine voters into Kennedy voters.

“Jim’s voters really like crayon, so my team is exploring that aesthetic,” said Kennedy, who was de-seated last year by just a handful of votes. “Jim and I are similar on the issues, so really I think it was the crayon on his signs last year that was the difference-maker. We had real success with the crayon signs for the wastewater treatment facility. It’s just more appealing to a certain type of voter.”
